Gothic Brush Lettering with Olive Panter

Sunday September 17, 2023 - 11AM-5PM

In this one day gothic brush lettering workshop with professional sign painter Olive Panter, you will learn the techniques for the construction of Gothic letterforms: the base of a sign painter’s visual toolkit. We'll cover universal proportions across variations of the alphabet, practice the strokes that build the alphabet, and most importantly, relearn how to hold a brush specifically to paint signs.

Other alphabets/applications and pattern making will be demoed. You’ll leave with a small tempera painting on paper. Masks are highly encouraged to protect our immunocompromised community.

All participants will be provided with practice handouts and a quality lettering brush to take home to continue to develop their skills.
